Focused on the wellbeing of our associates and the healthy development of the community, in 2014 we consolidated a number of programs aimed at assuring the physical wellbeing and security of our people and supporting social causes related to education and assistance for the most underprivileged members of society.

Based on the assumption that safer workplaces are a determining factor for business sustainability since they maximize the protection of our associates’ physical wellbeing, the company’s assets and the neighboring communities, in 2014 we made significant progress with the execution of the Risk Prevention Program we launched in 2013.
The objective of this initiative is to drive a solid culture of risk prevention that guarantees the safety of both personnel and visitors, as well as of the company’s assets, through continuous training in risk prevention processes and the development of specific protocols.

During 2014, we completed 381 preventive inspections of our branches and offices to assure that all our equipment is in proper working order and our facilities comply with the evacuation and immediate response protocol, and also to identify any unsafe, hazardous conditions.
In addition, we formed Risk Committees at 381 work centers, surpassing our goal of 280 committees for 2014 by 36.0%. These committees, made up of Internal Support Brigades for First Aid, Evacuation, and Fire Prevention and Control, are teams of associates from each work center who are responsible for organizing, deploying and executing the preventive measures described in the policy, as well as for responding immediately during and after a contingency.
Similarly, we managed to create and train 246 Internal Support Brigades and conducted 286 evacuation drills during the year.

With regard to talent development, in 2014 we increased the number of training hours offered by 166.5%, from 328,467 in 2013 to 875,233 hours. A total of 10,425 associates participated in these courses, which covered a wide variety of topics, including sales, leadership, management, safety, finance and other curricular content specific to the different positions in the organization.
Through the Social Responsibility Policy for associates, Grupo FAMSA seeks to foment trust and a sense of belonging among our personnel by executing socially responsible support actions.
Extending this commitment with work teams beyond our offices and business units, we formally demonstrated our solidarity with colleagues who have been affected by catastrophic accidents or natural disasters that affected their homes and resources.
The policy institutionalizes and clarifies the support given to our associates in the event of fire, flooding, torrential rain, earthquakes and other disasters. The aid we provide includes a package of furniture to facilitate the recovery of the associate and his or her family, and assistance with the procedures required to apply for and receive the support.
As a result of the implementation of this policy, during 2014 we supported the associates and their families who were affected by fires in the cities of Ensenada and Tijuana, in the state of Baja California, and those who lost all their belongings during the floods in the cities of Monclova and Piedras Negras, in the state of Coahuila.

The most relevant social welfare actions of the company during the year include the collection, in conjunction with our customers and the general public and supported by the financial infrastructure of the Banco FAMSA bank branches, of donations for diverse charities.
Thanks to the generosity of consumers, as in previous years, we organized a campaign for the scholarship program known as Programa Bécalos, implemented in association with the Mexican Banking Association and the Televisa Foundation, to provide support for underprivileged students. We also carried out two fundraising campaigns for Hogar de la Misericordia, a home that provides healthcare, meals and shelter for the sick in the State of Nuevo León.
With these actions, Grupo FAMSA reiterates its determination to continue to support the development of its associates, customers and the community we serve, in a manner that is aligned with our commitment to sustainability and the values that have characterized us throughout our history.
